Since September 2025, Josh Law has been inspiring pupils at Beachborough Prep through his teaching of violin and viola.
Josh guides young musicians through the learning process with patience and enthusiasm, nurturing curiosity and helping them grow into confident, independent performers.
We caught up with Josh to learn more about his musical journey, what inspires him, and what drew him to Beachborough.
Hi Josh, can you tell us a little about yourself – what you’re passionate about, your background and what makes you, you.

I’m especially passionate about how music education can nurture confidence, curiosity and imagination. I love helping young people discover just how expressive and personal playing an instrument can be. Outside of music, I’m happiest with a good coffee in hand, out on a walk or exploring what book to read next.
What do you love the most about being part of the Beachborough team?
I was drawn to Beachborough’s strong sense of creativity and its genuinely warm and encouraging atmosphere. There is a wonderful energy about the school – it values individuality and imagination, which is exactly what great music-making thrives on. I’m really looking forward to introducing more pupils to the violin and viola, building their confidence and seeing them discover how rewarding the world of music can be. There is something very special about the teamwork and communication that comes from making music together.
What inspired you to do what you do and what keeps you passionate about it today?
I was fortunate to have teachers who made music feel alive – not just something to be learned, but something to be experienced and shared. That sense of connection has stayed with me ever since. Teaching now gives me that same feeling; every time a pupil finds their sound or has a breakthrough moment, it reminds me why I started.
Playing the violin or viola teaches so much more than music. It builds patience, creativity and confidence, and it’s a real privilege to watch that journey unfold.
