Beachborough’s Minecraft e-Sports team is reflecting on an exceptional year after earning a ranking of 9th in Europe and 39th in the world in the DAIGON Esports’ international schools competition.
Led by Head of Computing and Club Lead, Tom Dimmock, the team spent the year taking on a series of challenges designed to develop key 21st-century skills, including teamwork, communication, creativity, strategic thinking and problem-solving.
Meeting weekly as part of Beachborough’s co-curricular programme, pupils worked together to tackle tasks that tested their resilience, collaboration and ability to think creatively under pressure. Throughout the competition, they demonstrated not only impressive gaming skills, but also the determination, leadership and teamwork that are essential for success both in and beyond the classroom.

While Minecraft is often associated with fun, the competition challenged pupils to apply a wide range of skills that are increasingly important in today’s world. Working collaboratively, solving problems and adapting to new situations were all vital elements of success.
The achievement also reflects Beachborough’s wider commitment to helping pupils develop skills for the future through innovative learning opportunities that extend beyond the traditional curriculum.
