We are delighted to introduce Adam Southorn, who joined Beachborough earlier this month as our new Teacher of PE and Games.
Bringing a strong sporting background and plenty of enthusiasm, Adam is a fantastic addition to the Games Department. Read on to learn more about him.
Hi Adam, can you tell us a little about yourself – what you’re passionate about, your background and what makes you, you.
I live and breathe sport, particularly cricket, and have a genuine passion for teaching. As an Early Careers Teacher, I bring a blend of a decade of coaching experience alongside two years of teaching in a prep school setting.
Beyond the classroom and the pitch, I love spending time with my family and friends, and I channel my creativity into running a sporting apparel and teamwear business. I’m incredibly excited to bring that same energetic, team-first focus to our school community.
What do you love the most about being part of the Beachborough team?
Even though I’ve only just started, I attended Move Up Day which gave me an immediate sense of what makes Beachborough so special. I was instantly struck by the incredible community spirit and how genuinely welcoming both the staff and pupils were. It already feels like a collaborative, supportive team, and that vibrant energy made me even more excited to officially dive in.
What inspired you to do what you do and what keeps you passionate about it today?
I was inspired to teach during my master’s degree, which focused heavily on inclusive sport and making movement accessible to all. What keeps me motivated today is the opportunity to help pupils discover a love of sport and physical activity for themselves. I love finding creative ways to engage every child and seeing them develop confidence and enjoyment through being active is exactly what keeps me motivated every single day.
