On Tuesday 7th May, we welcomed Year 5 children from @theradstoneprimaryschool, Helmdon Primary School, and Finmere Primary School, to join our FV Beachburians for our second CTI event of the year.
The day was jam-packed with exciting activities, which centered around the theme of ...'bikes'. The morning began with an impressive trick display, from BMX Halfpipe Champion, Mike Mullen; the children were amazed, and couldn't wait to have a go themselves! In the TED Suite, they created pedalling creatures, using the electric saws and pillar drills, before connecting a simple crank. In the Science Labs, they investigated friction and how tyres perform on different road surfaces.
The Art Room was used for making beautiful keychains, with patterns and decorative cogs, and in the Computing Room, the children built and programmed a device that demonstrated gravitational pull. The final activity was an inspirational BMX Workshop with Mike, which gave the children an opportunity to try a multitude of exciting tricks, using their own BMX bike. It was fantastic to see the confidence of the children growing with each trick that they tried, whilst encouraging each other to not give up when they found it challenging.

Yesterday afternoon, some of our U8 girls played their first cricket match against @chandlings_school.
The team worked very hard at their batting and fielding skills, and they were delighted to come away with a win. What a great start to the season! 🏏

The summer term is full of exciting trips for our Beachburians, and last week, our Chamber Choir went on tour to Belgium.
Once the children had settled in, their first stop was Chocco Story, to learn about the history of chocolate, watch a live demonstration of it being made and, of ...course, taste the delicious final product! After a moving visit to the Tyne Cot Memorial, and a tour of the Brugge Concert Hall, it was time to show everybody how wonderfully they can sing.
To kick things off, the children sang an array of songs outside of the Yper Museum to passers-by, some of whom stayed for the entire duration to listen and support. Their second concert had been well advertised, and they took to the stage at the magnificent Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk (Church of Our Lady), to perform in front of a fantastic audience, who praised them with a standing ovation.
On several occassions, the children received compliments on how well behaved and polite they were, so well done everybody, you were a real credit to the school! 👏

Our second CTI event of the year is just around the corner!

This theme this time... around is 'Pedal Power', and it involves a carousel of exciting activities, centered around bikes. The children will explore gravity, investigate friction, and get creative in the TED Suite and Art Room, alongside receiving a BMX workshop from Halfpipe Champion, Mike Mullen.

This week, PP2 experienced their first residential trip! The children visited the wonderful @woodrowhighhouse, and participated in a range of exciting activities, aimed at building confidence, acquiring new skills and, most importantly, making memories.
During their overnight adventure, ...Pre-Prep 2 experienced the thrill of 'nightline', which involves navigating an obstacle course, blindfolded. This was the ultimate test of communication and trust for our children, and certainly encouraged them to step outside of their comfort zones.
Bushcraft also played an important role throughout this trip, and the children learnt to forage, identify plants, and build fires - all of that hard work called for one thing.. popcorn around the campfire!
The first residential for PP2 was a triumph, complete with toasting marshmallows and celebrating birthdays together. Resilience was developed, confidence was built, and friendships were strengthened, and we are certain that their next residential will be of equal success.

On Sunday 16th June 2024, the annual Beachborough and Brackley Triathlon makes a return to Stowe School! Beachborough & Brackley Triathlon is affiliated to Triathlon England, and is part of the South Central Triathlon Series.
The day will consist of both individual and 4x mixed relay ...events, with age categories ranging from TriStart - Youth. This event always proves to be extremely popular, so early booking is advised to avoid disappointment; you can do so by visiting the Linktree page in our bio.
The Beachborough and Brackley Triathlon Club warmly welcomes new members aged 8+, and holds weekly swim and land training sessions, based at Brackley Leisure Centre and Beachborough School. They have successfully had children representing the club at national level, and older athletes have been known to race internationally! On Friday, FIII spent the day at @livingrainforest.
The children received a guided tour, and learnt how plants and animals have adapted to the living rainforest environment, discovering how adaptation can lead to evolution over time. The tour covered areas such as how the leaves gets rid ...of excess water; plant adaptations to maximise light and nutrient uptake; and the way various animals are suited to life in the rainforest.
FIII had a fantastic, informative day out, and discovered many interesting facts about the rainforest and its inhabitants. They even concluded their day with a trip to the park!
