Early Years

The Early Years, from Nursery to Reception, see the greatest growth and learning for all children and at Beachborough. It is important to us to ensure every child has the very best start. We have created a fun filled, caring and stimulating environment where the children are encouraged to explore, investigate and learn to communicate about their discoveries and the world around them.

Early Years Facilities

The Nursery, Kindergarten, and Reception rooms are housed in the Boardman building. This is a purpose built, light and airy building, fully equipped with the latest technologies and two large communal areas for assemblies and smaller class performances. Low level display surfaces and ledges make equipment accessible to the children and encourage their independence. The toilets are bright and attractive and are situated in a central position for easy access.

The Nursery and Kindergarten have their own secure outside play area and garden. There is a sandpit, covered area, climbing frame and numerous wheeled toys for the children to enjoy. There is also a little cottage for more imaginative play and a play corner that changes according to the topics the children are learning about. The garden has a living willow tepee which is thoroughly enjoyed by the children and raised beds in which they grow vegetables to enjoy at snack time.

Progression from Nursery

Nursery and Kindergarten works closely with Reception to make the progression into full-time school as smooth as possible.

The Reception classrooms are connected to allow both classes to come together for some activities and also work independently when required. The children frequently enjoy outdoor learning in their own secure covered outside play area. Reception are supported by Prep school specialists in music, drama, sport and languages. The children regularly use the well-equipped Music department, ICT Suites and old Library in the Manor House as well as the performing arts theatre, Forest School, sports hall and extensive sports facilities.
