Gemma Holloway, Pre-Prep1 Teacher, Outdoor Learning Lead and Pre-Prep Phase Leader

As a Pre-Prep 1 Teacher, Outdoor Learning Lead and Pre-Prep Phase Leader, Gemma Holloway plays an important role in the day-to-day life of our Pre-Prep pupils.

Now in her fourth year at Beachborough, she is passionate about helping children build confidence, spark their curiosity and enjoy learning.

We caught up with Gemma to find out more about her career in education, what motivates her, and what she loves most about being part of the Beachborough community.

Hi Gemma, can you tell us a little about yourself – what you’re passionate about, your background and what makes you, you.

I am passionate about creating engaging, inclusive learning environments where every child feels valued, capable and inspired to succeed. With experience as both a Deputy Head and Phase Leader, I am committed to empowering children to find their voice, build confidence, and believe in their potential.

I love fostering a genuine love of learning through hands-on experiences, curiosity, and enquiry-based learning. I firmly believe that every child enters the classroom with a wealth of knowledge, experiences and ideas, and my role is to nurture these foundations, helping children grow into confident, independent, and resilient learners while building a strong inner voice of ‘I can’.

Seeing children discover their strengths, embrace challenges, and develop a lifelong passion for learning is what inspires me every day.

What do you love the most about being part of the Beachborough team?

The Beachborough community is filled with passionate, like-minded staff who work together to inspire and support children in becoming their very best.

What inspired you to do what you do and what keeps you passionate about it today?

For me, it’s always been about the children. I love seeing those moments when something suddenly clicks, when a child realises they can do something they previously found difficult. Those moments never get old.

What keeps me passionate is knowing that the relationships we build and the experiences we create in the classroom can have a lasting impact. Every year brings a new group of children, each with their own personalities, strengths and challenges, and I feel incredibly privileged to play a part in their journey.
