Welcome to the next instalment of our From Classroom to Community series. This week, we are catching up with Ella Keen, who has been a valued member of the Beachborough team for the past 10 years.
Alongside her role as a Class Teacher, Ella is also our Form III & IV Phase Leader, helping to guide and support pupils through these important years.
We spoke to Ella about life beyond the classroom, what she loves most about Beachborough and what continues to inspire her as a teacher.
Hi Ella, can you tell us a little about yourself – what you’re passionate about, your background and what makes you, you.
I have two little boys who keep me very busy! I love being outside and doing arts and crafts with them, whether that’s getting messy with paint or exploring somewhere new. In my spare time I like running and baking, both of which I’m trying to get better at.
What do you love the most about being part of the Beachborough team?
I love that no two days are the same; there is always something going on! I also love the real sense of community here and getting to know all the families. The staff are all brilliant friends, which makes Beachborough a great place to be.
What inspired you to do what you do and what keeps you passionate about it today?
I love teaching because it is always different and every day brings something new. We have so much fun in the classroom and I’m always trying to think of ways to keep our learning active, engaging and busy. Sometimes that means building a Tudor town or staging a murder mystery. Seeing children excited about learning and discovering new interests is what makes me love teaching.
