Our latest ‘From Classroom to Community’ spotlight features another integral member of the Beachborough Prep team whose enthusiasm and warmth help bring our school to life.
Introducing Mark Jackson, Form III teacher and Assistant Head of Boardman, who has been part of Beachborough for six years. A valued member of our early years provision, Mark brings experience from both state and independent schools and leads with kindness and a genuine passion for helping children thrive.
Over to you, Mark…
Tell us a little about yourself – what you’re passionate about, your background and what makes you, you.
I have a two-year-old son, Arthur and a little border terrier called Buddy. Between the two of them, they certainly keep me and my wife, Grace, on our toes.
I’m a big fan of rugby – particularly the Exeter Chiefs and Saints – and I enjoy sports in general. Spending time outdoors and cooking are two of my favourite passions, and I have a love for reading children’s literature.
What do you love the most about being part of the Beachborough team?
I love the strong sense of school community, along with the meaningful relationships built with staff, children and parents.
What inspired you to do what you do and what keeps you passionate about it today?
I went into teaching having loved my time at both primary and secondary school. Whilst at University, I coached rugby in a secondary school and later worked as a gap student at a prep school in Surrey. I thoroughly enjoyed both experiences, and they confirmed for me that I wanted to teach and help give children the same positive experiences I had.
I taught in the state sector in Surrey and inner London for almost 10 years before moving to Bicester. The variety within the primary curriculum, and the incredible amount of learning and growth that happens during these early years, is something I’ve always found fantastic.
