In the run-up to Christmas, our boarders have embraced the festive spirit with enthusiasm. Decorating the dining room was a particular highlight—glitter, tinsel, and baubles galore! The dining room is now sparkling , made even more special by the creativity and teamwork of our boarders.
Another unforgettable memory was our recent trip to see Peter Pan. Watching the boarders’ faces light up as they were transported to Neverland was a joy to behold. The performance captured the spirit of adventure and imagination that we cherish so much here at Kites.
This term, cooking has undoubtedly been the most popular activity. From baking festive treats to cookie galore, the kitchen has been alive with chatter, delicious aromas, and plenty of flour-covered aprons! Manhunt has continued to be a firm favourite, with the boarders running off their energy in thrilling after-dark games. And for those with a creative flair, the art room has been a haven for designing, painting, and crafting.
As the term comes to a close, I’d like to thank all our boarders for their enthusiasm, kindness, and the many wonderful memories they’ve created together. To our families, thank you for your support and for sharing your incredible children with us.

Get to know Miss Embley:
Can you tell us a little about yourself? Where are you from, and what are your hobbies or interests?
I went to Beachborough from PP1 to year 8, then went on to Stowe as my senior school. Throughout school, sport has been my main interest however, my favourite has to be cricket which has stuck with me from Beachborough right through to the end of Stowe.
What are your fondest memories of attending Beachborough as a pupil?
Some of my favourite memories of Beachborough were definitely sports day and club events. But, my ultimate favourite was my final boarding water fight in year 8.
How does it feel to be back here, but this time as part of the boarding house staff?
It feels amazing to be back here but also slightly odd, as it sometimes it feels as if I never left. It has been so interesting seeing boarding from a different perspective and how important it is to create a fun, safe, boarding experience for the children.
What is your role in the boarding house, and what kind of activities or support do you provide for the boarders?
As a gap student, our role in the boarding house is to run games such as capture the flag or man hunt, and make the toasties in the evening. In boarding, our role is slightly different as we become even more involved with the children and often act as a big kid, joining in with their games.
What do you enjoy most about working with the boarders?
I think the best thing about working in boarding is you can get to know the children in a relaxed environment. Not only this, it’s also so much fun being able to join in and introduce them to games I played when I was boarding at Beachborough.
Are there any traditions or aspects of the boarding house that you see differently now?
Although I am currently seeing boarding from a different perspective, the atmosphere of boarding has still remained the same. It is a boarding house which is more like a home.
What advice would you give to current boarders to make the most of their time here?
Personally, I would make the most of getting to know everyone in the boarding community from year 3 all the way up to year 8. This was so valuable to me as it built my self confidence and helped me grow as a person.
