Talk Education review Beachborough Prep

Posted: 6th March 2024

On Wednesday 28th January 2024, we welcomed Nicky Youngs and Cazzie Haigh, from Talk Education, to conduct an in-person review of Beachborough Prep School, for our online profile.

Talk Education is a free, online guide to the world’s best private schools. A team of expert researchers compile bespoke reviews, in order to offer the best insight to private schools around the globe. Now with almost two terms as Head of Beachborough Prep under her belt, we thought it would be a great opportunity for Nicky and Cazzie to meet with Mrs Mitchell, tour the school, and to chat with our wonderful Beachburians.

The tour began with the Manor House; the first stop being Computing & Robotics, where our visitors met our Head of Computing, Mrs Blithe. Our visitors gained a fantastic insight into Computing at Beachborough School, where coding, developing apps, designing robots, and programming are all part of the curriculum. With her second hat on, as Head of Boarding, Mrs Blithe explained the boarding house routines and introduced our visitors to our boarding house dog, Jethro. He took a real shine to our visitors and enjoyed the additional fuss! After spending time in our newly refurbished Food Technology kitchen, Nicky and Cazzie went to the upstairs of the Manor House, where they were met with Art, History, Geography, and English. We are always proud to show off these wonderfully decorated, immersive classrooms to our guests, who are invariably impressed by the illustrations that sit proudly on the walls. Next up was the TED Suite, our newest facility on-site, that enables children in Form III and above to work with electric saws, pillar drills, and 3D printers, on a range of exciting projects using CAD software. Thereafter, Music, Maths and Science were explored, and the tour concluded with a trip to our Whybrow Theatre for a sneak preview of forthcoming Form VI production, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Junior which will be showcased to parents and the Beachborough community, next week!  During their visit to the Boardman building, the children in Nursery through to FIV were eager to impress our visitors with their recent work. Nicky and Cazzie expressed that they particularly enjoyed seeing the children so happy within their classrooms, and really loved the atmosphere and ‘buzz’ that Beachborough exudes.

Following their valued tour of the school, they had the chance to meet with a small focus group of children, from both the Boardman and the Manor House, alongside Mrs Mitchell; this was a fabulous opportunity for Arthur, Tami, Molly, Henry, Evie and Gethin to share their personal perspectives of Beachborough. Among them, they discussed topics such as charity initiatives, annual sporting events, our school’s quirks, what makes Beachborough so special, and how they are supported throughout their education. The children shared some heart-warming opinions of school life, for example: every child at Beachborough has a voice; they are grateful for the opportunities that arise and feel lucky to come to a school like Beachborough; they always feel supported and cared for by members of staff; it feels like a home away from home to them. Nicky and Cazzie were so impressed by their confidence and ability to articulate their answers with such conviction, which provided them with a valuable insight to our prep school.

We are very much looking forward to reading our updated Talk Education review, which can be found via their website https://tinyurl.com/3x8rdet6
