That’s why flexibility sits at the centre of boarding at Beachborough Prep. Every family’s needs are different, so our provision is designed to adapt around them. Available to all pupils from Forms III to VIII, our flexi‑boarding model offers single nights, short stays, weekly patterns or occasional bookings – giving families the flexibility they need while allowing children to enjoy the experience of boarding life.
At the core of this experience is a true home‑from‑home environment. Our boarding house is warm, relaxed and nurturing, helping pupils settle in quickly and feel genuinely at ease. With this sense of belonging comes confidence; children flourish when they feel supported, known and valued.
Boarding also plays an important part in pupils’ all‑round development. Through simple, age‑appropriate responsibilities, like making their own beds, children build essential life skills that prepare them for senior school and beyond. We give boarders the space to make choices too. Instead of a one‑size‑fits‑all routine, pupils are encouraged to use their free time in ways that suit their interests, helping them grow in independence and self‑awareness. We also build global awareness into boarding life, regularly engaging pupils with age‑appropriate news, like Newsround, to help them deepen their understanding of the wider world.
Being a small prep school adds something particularly special to our boarding community. Children of different ages mix naturally, forming friendships across year groups and gaining confidence from shared experiences. Inter‑year activities and relaxed downtime contribute to a wonderfully supportive atmosphere.
And then there’s the fun – an essential ingredient of boarding at Beachborough Prep. Our Friday night boarding programme is a highlight of the week, offering a mix of themed events, creative activities, bushcraft, trips, formal dinners and outdoor adventures. These evenings bring the house alive with excitement and laughter, creating memories pupils carry with them long after they leave.
