At Beachborough Prep in Westbury, just a short drive from Banbury, Bicester and Brackley, we offer wraparound care for all children across the school, extending the school day with a plethora of extra-curricular clubs and activities within our spacious and inviting wraparound care facility, The Hub.
At Beachborough, we recognise that families all have different needs and that everyone’s daily routines are different and therefore, we offer morning and after-school care to make everyone’s day a little less stressful, knowing that your child is cared for in their school environment with familiar staff.
We believe that attending wraparound care at school can offer pupils a wide range of benefits and can make a meaningful difference to the school day for pupils by providing opportunities for homework support, exposure to enrichment activities and by allowing time at the end of the day to build stronger friendships in a more relaxed and informal setting.
Our new Wraparound Care Assistant, Mrs Edwards, has brought a wealth of experience with her from her former role as a TA in a local Prep School and has said,
“Attending aftercare gives the children a chance to unwind after a busy day at school. They are amongst friends and I try to encourage a relaxed atmosphere. The children who attend are able to socialise, eat a delicious tea, play, and enjoy themselves. Parents can be rest assured that their children are well cared for and kept occupied. We have so many activities on offer and pupils are free to choose what they would like to do. For example, board games, Lego, arts & crafts and outdoor play. There are books to read if the children just want to relax quietly or they can take the opportunity to do their homework. We have soft music play throughout until 6pm to create a warm and calming atmosphere and as a final wind-down before going home.”
“There are huge benefits to attending wraparound care, the children develop socially as they play in mixed year groups and it is a delight to watch the older ones helping and playing with the younger children. In a less structured setting such as aftercare, the children learn more responsibility and respect for others through turn taking and sharing with others. Recently, I witnessed some brilliant team work when a group of mixed age children decided to use some old cardboard to build an enormous dinosaur. There was some wonderful accompanying dialogue about the sharing of ideas, delegation of tasks and cooperation to reach their final goal – all completely unprompted by adults.”
“I personally really enjoy leading the craft activities. I like to have a theme of the week – recently we celebrated World Ocean Week and we had an abundance of craft activities to complement the theme – fish made out of foil, jelly fish made out of cupcake cases and we painted beautiful, watercolour ocean pictures. We all had a great time!”
