Since joining Beachborough Prep in 2023, Angela Crook has become an essential part of our pastoral care team, offering thoughtful, compassionate support to children across the school.
As our Wellbeing and Nurture Practitioner, she helps pupils navigate their emotions, build confidence and develop the skills they need to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
In this latest instalment of our from classroom to community series, we are delighted to introduce Angela, share more about her journey, and explore what inspires her work with our pupils every day.
Tell us a little about yourself – what you’re passionate about, your background and what makes you, you.
I live with my husband and our three wonderful children, aged 19, 16 and 14. Family means everything to me, and I love spending time with them and with friends, especially when we’re off enjoying holidays in sunny, warm places.
I’m passionate about child development and emotional wellbeing, particularly for children with additional needs. For nine years, I worked in a small village primary school as an HLTA, supporting learning as well as children’s wellbeing. I truly believe that no child should ever feel left behind or alone, and I find so much joy in helping them thrive.
What inspires me most in my role is seeing the difference that care, understanding and the right support can make in a child’s life – it’s a privilege to be part of that journey. My work is incredibly rewarding, and I feel lucky to do what I love every day alongside such amazing colleagues.
What do you love the most about being part of the Beachborough team?
What I love the most about being part of the Beachborough team is the incredible sense of commitment and inspiration that everyone brings to their work. The team is deeply dedicated to making a real difference for the children, and they do it with such positivity and fun that it creates a genuinely supportive, uplifting environment.
Being surrounded by people who care so deeply, who inspire each other, and who make the workplace such an enjoyable place to be keeps me motivated and proud to be part of this amazing community.
What inspired you to do what you do and what keeps you passionate about it today?
My inspiration comes from a deep belief that every child deserves to feel safe, understood and supported. Early in my career I saw first-hand how much emotional wellbeing and the right guidance can transform a child’s life – not just academically but in their confidence and happiness. That experience sparked my passion for working with children, especially those with additional needs, and making sure no child feels left behind or alone.
What keeps me passionate today is seeing those small but powerful moments of progress – when a child feels proud of themselves, makes a new friend or overcomes a challenge they thought was impossible. Knowing that I can play a part in that journey is incredibly rewarding and continues to inspire me every single day.
