Sally Gross mingles with celebs to launch the 2026 Wear A Hat Day

Posted: 25th February 2026

Our very own Sally Gross enjoyed a truly memorable day in London on Monday as she joined Patrons, Ambassadors and supporters of Brain Tumour Research at the official launch of Wear A Hat Day 2026. The event was hosted at Lock & Co., the world’s oldest hat shop.

Wear A Hat Day, taking place this year on Friday 27th March, is always a highlight in the Beachborough Prep calendar. We’ve proudly supported Brain Tumour Research for 16 years, and every spring our pupils, teachers and staff let their creativity run wild as they design and wear a variety of hats to school. Our hat parade has become a much-loved tradition, and together our community has raised over £25,000 for this vital cause.

As one of the charity’s long‑term supporters, Beachborough Prep was invited to the prestigious launch event, with Sally attending on our behalf. She had the chance to meet a number of well‑known faces, including TV presenters Sarah Beeny and Danny Clarke, TV personality Debbie McGee, and actress Vicki Michelle. The highlight for Sally, however, was meeting award‑winning tenor Alfie Boe OBE, after whom the event – Lock & Boe – was named.

With Brain Tumour Awareness Month beginning on 1st March, excitement is already building in school. Next week, we’ll be asking pupils to start planning their hat creations, and many will also be volunteering to sell charity badges. It’s a wonderful opportunity for everyone to express themselves, have fun and raise vital funds and awareness for a cause close to our hearts.
