Goblin Racing Team win at Luton

On Saturday 20th May, 8 children from the Beachborough Racing Team raced at Luton Sixth Form College in a gathering of Goblins. Accompanied by Paul Eastman, Ben Hawkins, Mrs Hodges and Mr Perronnet, Barney T, Oscar H, Charlie T, Christian G, Finn M, Claudia K, Harry B and Ralph L, competed against 9 other primary schools in a series of slalom and drag races and a series of oval style sprint race between 3 cars.

It was only the second outing for the team, including Goodwood last July, and for most it was their very first event. We won both the slalom and drag races but came 3rd in the sprint final (after our car was moved to the outside line at the last minute!) but this was enough to take the overall victory. Despite having only one car to share, all contributed to the success of the team and there will be many more opportunities to drive when the second car is ready.

A huge thank you to Richard Tuthill for assisting with the transport of the winning machine. As Pierre de Coubertin would say :
« Le succès n’est pas un but mais un moyen de viser plus haut. »
Goodwood, here we come!
