Form VIII performed a stunning Variety Performance for their final farewell and there was not a dry eye in house at the end of the show. We were treated to the many talents of the Form VIII leavers with music, magic and comedy. The whole production had a rolling backdrop of photos from the year groups past 11 years at Beachborough.
Benedict H and Joshua A expertly hosted the show that started with a dynamic performance of Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’. Musical pieces included achievements from instrument lessons, club music and the pupils’ own compositions. Mrs Dunkley said she was immensely proud of how all our musicians have progressed over the years. The Drama scholars recited gripping monologues, as well as tackling the ‘Dead Parrot’ Sketch by Monty Python. Illusions and mind reading was abundant amongst our magicians, generating audible gasps from the audience. Comedy took the form of stand-up and the ever risky ‘teachers impressions’.
The focus of the show was to promote the individuality of the pupils and all the pupils embraced this concept; with talks on photography, football skills and baking. It truly was a variety.
The show ended with a powerful and moving song ‘Leavers 2017’ written by Isobel B and Sophia S. All the Form VIII did very well to hold their emotion backstage.
It has been a pleasure coordinating such a talented year group and developing their performance skills through our many productions. We wish all this year’s leavers best wishes and great success at their chosen senior schools.
