May I wish you all a happy New Year and welcome children and parents back to Beachborough for the spring term.
I wonder how many watched The Queen on Christmas Day? In the Banks family, we factor in being seated around the television at 3pm and I know many of you do too. Although only a couple of weeks ago, it does seem a long time ago! That said, at the time I thought to myself that her message was one worth repeating. In making reference to the successes at the Rio Olympics and the work of the Air Ambulance Her Majesty remarked that she often drew strength ‘from meeting ordinary people doing extraordinary things’. I think that this is a strong message from which young people can learn a great deal. Miracles are not required, but with hard work, determination and purposeful practice seemingly impossible goals can be set and achieved. This is the sort of place we want Beachborough to be and I am reminded daily of each child’s potential when I see them participate in the opportunities offered by the fantastic body of staff.
We hit the ground running on today and we warmly welcome six new staff join the team to the Beachborough community. Lisa Smith joins the Science and I am delighted that Karen Key stays with us, giving 4 sets (and small classes) in the larger year groups in Science. Emma Shannon is our new School Secretary and Dan Murphy is our new School Administrator – having started on Tuesday 3rd, both have made a very positive impression! Two Australian Gap Students, called Katie Johnson and Jemma Byron, flew in on Sunday and a third, graduate (gap) student, called Dylan Hayes joins us from South Africa.
We are also thrilled to announce that on 30th January work will start on our new Technology building and an extension to our current Dining Room. This project will result in a state of the art facility that will ensure Beachborough is at the forefront of teaching the subject. Work is intended to be complete for early in the summer holidays 2017. In due course the exciting plans will be shared with you and I will ensure periodic updates are provided as work progresses to keep you informed of progress.
With my best wishes,
Jeremy Banks |Headmaster
