On Tuesday evening we held our first instrumental concert of the year in The Whybrow Theatre for Mr McNulty’s guitar pupils. We were thoroughly entertained by the children who confidently played a variety of pop, blues and rock music on electric and acoustic
The pupils demonstrated a variety of guitar techniques including playing power chords and improvising. We had many members of the audience toetapping and headnodding along to songs such as “Holiday” from George, “Seven Nation Army” from Morgan and Felix, “Smoke on the Water” from Ben and “Hold Back the River” from Zac. Henry showed off his Ed Sheeranesque voice with “Let Her Go” and “Sing” which he performed with Harry as a duet. We were also treated to some world premieres from Ernie and Will. The youngest children, Isabella and Noah from PP2, were brave enough to perform “Scarborough Fair” and Callum serenaded us with a rendition of “Love Yourself”. The concert ended with Luka demonstrating a number of guitar techniques in a polished performance of “The Cave”.
However, the performance that brought the house down was from Rock Chick Kitty who improvised on “Price Tag”. (Mrs Howard was crying with laughter!) A thoroughly entertaining evening, my thanks go to the parents for supporting the children and to Nick McNulty for his unlimited patience.
