The last of our informal instrumental concerts for this year took place on Tuesday evening in The Whybrow Theatre. We were treated to performances by Mr Lewis’s brass pupils and Mrs Pearce’s piano pupils. The piano pupils, Lucy C, Isabella B, Grace H, Keira H and Pippa H, although very young, gave confident, musical performances.
Brass pupils Millie G, Barnes T, Christian G, Joseph P, Angus E, Jonty G, William G-S, George K, Henry H, Archie O and Emily B treated us to a wide variety of music from classical through to rag time and jazz. A variety of brass instruments were on show on Tuesday evening, trumpets, cornets, baritone, French horn and a blue plastic trombone (commonly known as a pbone. We were given demonstrations by Mr Lewis of how each instrument worked and the similarities and differences between them. Performances by the junior and senior brass groups were also enjoyed by all.My thanks go to Mr Lewis, Mrs Pearce and all the pupils. Well done.
