Welcome to Year 2 (6-7 year olds). Our aims in Year 2 are to build on the strong foundations already in place. The children are encouraged to become independent individuals, whilst retaining a team spirit.

It is our aim that the children will develop a greater sense of understanding, confidence and independence within each area.
Reading continues and extends all of the aims of the preceding years. Our overall objective is to develop each child as an independent reader. We encourage this not only through the Reading Scheme but also in other lessons and activities.
Speaking & Listening is not only developed within the classroom but also through participation in our Christmas plays and assemblies. The children are given the opportunity to speak with confidence, clarity and fluency to a wider audience.
Children will develop as effective writers and understand the value of writing as a means of communication, memory, organisation, development of ideas and information as a source of enjoyment.
