Nursery and Kindergarten

Getting Started

Beachborough offers a weekly Parent and Toddler Group, where the children are able to gain confidence in the Nursery environment before they join the Nursery class. The group provides an ideal opportunity for children and parents/carers to familiarise themselves with the school, the staff and each other.

The Nursery and Kindergarten Classes

The aim of the Nursery and Kindergarten classes is to create a happy, fun filled, caring and stimulating environment where the children are encouraged to explore, investigate and learn to communicate about their discoveries and the world around them.

The children are welcomed into the Nursery from the age of 2 and will progress into the Kindergarten before they join the Reception class. In the Nursery and Kindergarten a range of qualified staff care for the children.

The Nursery and Kindergarten offers the following sessions to its pupils

Morning session 9.00 12.00

Afternoon Session 12.30 3.30

Full day 9.00 3.30

Nursery and Kindergarten are the first years of the Foundation Stage and are vitally important in themselves. The Nursery and Kindergarten follow the six areas of learning and the Early Learning Goals as outlined in the curriculum guidance for the Foundation Stage. These areas are as follows

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Communication, Language and Literacy

Mathematical Development

Creative Development

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

Physical Development

This learning is achieved through a wide variety of themes, activities and most importantly play. We encourage parents to be closely involved with their childs learning and we value a partnership in which interests and concerns can be shared.

Structured time, emphasis is placed on literacy, numeracy and topic related activities.

Snack time, emphasis is placed on good manners and independence.

During the week there is opportunity for the children to participate in music, gymnastics, games and music and movement activities.

The children have frequent supervised access to our lovely grounds. They regularly join in with assemblies, plays and other activities within the Pre-Prep department, which help to introduce them to the wider school community.
