Pupils may choose to board and if they do the flexi system means that they stay between one and four nights and at 6.45pm a Boarders Programme kicks in.

Writing

This is run by the Housemaster, the Matron, the Gap Student and a range of resident members of staff all of whom are happy to provide activities and support outings that make boarding at Beachborough such a success.

The approximate timings for a typical day at Beachborough School are as follows. There are some slight variations depending upon the age of the pupil.

Boarding Routines                  Summer Term 2007

Morning Routine

Try not to disturb anyone else before 7.15am

7.15am             

Wake up, wash and get dressed.

7.30am

20 minutes music practice, quiet reading or doing something useful.

7.50am

Breakfast

8.15am

Teeth cleaning and bed making

Evening Routine

5.00pm

Boarders are allowed into dorms to change into their home clothes as long as they do not disturb others, leave a mess or arrive late or improperly for their next activity.

6.45pm                                        

Shoe cleaning in old pantry immediately after prep.

Bring supper upstairs.

6.50pm to 6.55pm

Meeting on Terrace (outside Housemaster’s flat in bad weather) leading to Activities (MJPS or Resident).

7.45pm

Finish activities and go upstairs.

7.50pm

Showers or baths. Hand in Laundry to baskets.

8.00pm

Supper in Corridor followed sometimes by sweetshop.

8.10pm

Take Supper and Laundry downstairs.

8.15pm

I and II form clean teeth and then get into bed (reading for 15 minutes). Then lights out at 8.30pm.

8.30pm

III form clean teeth and then get into bed (reading for 15 minutes). Then lights out at 8.45pm.

8.45pm

IV form clean teeth and then get into bed (reading for 15 minutes). Then lights out at 9.00pm.

9.00pm

V and VI form clean teeth and then get into bed (reading for 15 minutes). Then lights out at 9.15pm.

Please try to be considerate and make sure you make the minimum amount of noise once the youngest have had their lights out.

Notes on timings:

Bedtimes can be extended in order to watch a special TV programme at the discretion of MJPS, however you need to ask in good time and be sure that all other parts of the routine has been kept to. This includes having a reading book and being on time.
