The inaugural triangular cross country meeting between Beachborough, Ashfold and Swanbourne House was held last Friday afternoon. This was a chance for our pupils to take part in an early pre-season run on a short but undulating course in preparation for the upcoming meetings later this term and then into next term as well.
In perfect running conditions, with no wind and the ground still relatively hard after a pleasant Autumn thus far, our U11 boys and girls set off determined to dictate the pace of their particular races. Charlie T ran a very strong race to win the boys event followed home by Edward E in 3rd and Thomas G in 5th. In the girls’ competition, Lottie M’s 2nd place and Olivia M, running down due to Lottie G’s illness at the last minute, coming home in 3rd ensured we were very competitive in this age group category.
In the U13 competitions, boys captain Benedict H gave a typically strong and gutsy performance to win the boys race in front of Henry P, Harry R, Josh D and Oliver H. With these 5 boys all finishing in the top 6 positions, this ensured that we dominated this particular category winning by 38 points in the end.
The girls were equally successful after girls captain Isobel B ensured there was a fast start to their particular race. Florence T paced her run to perfection to win and there was a Beachborough 1-2-3 with Pippa L just edging in front of Larissa C to finish 2nd. Emily S’s 6th place was just reward for the improvement that she has made with her running this term and the girls’ performance in general bodes well for the Beachborough Run in December.
Well done to all of the pupils involved as they all played their part in ensuring that we were very competitive in winning three of the four age group categories.
