After being scouted playing football locally, Willoughby was selected to take part in an FA Disability Talent Programme beginning in April. For the past 6 weeks, he has attended training sessions run by the Northamptonshire FA on Thursday evenings from 5.30-7pm at Thomas Beckett School in Northampton. Since being on the course, Willoughby has passed his assessment and will now move on to Regional training during the summer holidays.
Willoughby’s long term aim is to play for the England Cerebral Palsy Football team. Being involved in the programme is ensuring that he is on the right pathway to achieve this goal. He would like to play in the Cerebral Palsy World Cup having watched last year’s tournament with great interest.
I wish Willoughby the best of luck with his all of his disability football and I am sure with his ambition, determination and hard work, we could see him putting on an England shirt in the not too distant future!
