Further Swimming Success at the Stowe Relays

After successfully retaining the Stowe Challenge Cup last week, a number of our U11 swimmers took part in the Stowe Relays on Thursday. After a busy exam week and the disappointment of cricket and rounders matches being called off on Wednesday due to the weather, the boys and girls selected to swim were all geared up and full of energy ready for their respective relays.
A successful afternoon started with both girls’ teams (A and B) qualifying for the final of the freestyle relay. In the final itself, the A team of Florence T, Emily S, Larissa C and Olivia S-C finished 1st in an impressive time of 1.08.23 with our B team of Lottie M, Emilia S-C, Hattie G and Bella A not far behind in 3rd in a time of 1.15.05. Having secured medals in the freestyle relay, both girls’ teams then proceeded to finish 2nd and 3rd respectively in the medley relay final behind a very strong Lambrook quartet.
The boys’ team of Henry P, Ben G, William G-S and Peter P also enjoyed their fair share of success too finishing as silver medallists in both the freestyle and medley relays behind Lambrook. What was encouraging about their performance is the quicker time that they recorded in the final compared to their heat of both relays, highlighting the fact that when it counts they can perform under pressure.
A great afternoon of swimming with two medals gained for each swimmer and more silver wear to put in the Beachborough cabinet courtesy of the girls A team winning the freestyle relay! Well done to Mrs Pollock and all of the swimmers and many thanks to all of the parents who came along to support!
