Superb start to Tennis season

On Wednesday, Beachborough entered the Rugby School coaching and festival day. Four boys were selected to represent the school and each performed well with Ben G, William N and Magnus W-M all making their debuts for the tennis team. Along with seasoned campaigner, Guy W, the boys all looked the part in the new school tennis shirts.

With Guy and Magnus winning 4 of their 5 matches, the team finished a highly respectable second place overall in the tournament in the afternoon in a strong field of junior players. A great performance from our under 11 boys team and a good start to the season!

On Thursday, the first fixture of the term took place at Winchester House with 3 x U13 boys and girls pairs and 2x U11 boys and girls pairs playing a round robin of doubles matches. Each pair was seeded and played against all of their respective age group pairs from Winchester House. With a howling wind and the cold weather to contend with, the boys and girls all gave a good account of themselves and there were a number of keenly fought matches. The U11’s were victorious overall after the completion of their matches whilst the U13’s were beaten by more experienced players. That said seeing nine matches of doubles
being played at the same time provided ample entertainment for the parents who came to watch in horrible conditions. A big well done to all of our pairs!
