During the last week over 40 children have performed in informal music concerts for parents and friends.
Last Friday, 23 of Mrs Thurman’s pupils sang in a wonderful concert, performing songs from folk to musical theatre to the latest pop songs. All the children sang beautifully with poise and confidence from complete beginners to Grade 5 standard. Singing plays an important part in our music curriculum and it is encouraging that so many children take singing lessons, with an ever increasing waiting list in operation.
On Tuesday evening of this week we were entertained by performances on clarinet, saxophone, flute and recorder by pupils of Mrs Sharam, Mr Lee and Mr Darbyshire. I was truly astounded by the progress of the woodwind pupils and was impressed by their confidence and competence. Every performance was excellent in it’s own right, from the pupil who had received only 4 lessons to Grade 8 pupils. I also enjoyed performances by the clarinet and saxophone ensembles.
My thanks go to Mrs Thurman, Mrs Sharam, Mr Lee and Mr Darbyshire for preparing the children for these concerts, to Mr Davies for accompanying and to all the children. Good luck to those pupils who are taking ABRSM grade exams next week.
