Chappel win the Club Maths Final!

A total of 32 finalists were selected from the first round of Club Maths, which involved everyone in Forms I – IV answering as many sums as possible in 2 minutes. Each club put forward their best 2 mathematicians in each year group, making club teams of 8 pupils. The final had 3 rounds – the first contained multi-choice questions for Forms I & II; the second round, ‘Bus Stop’ required Forms III & IV to work out how many people were on the bus at the end of a journey where people hopped on and off; the last round, Countdown, was for all finalists and the first person to make a given target number, won the points for their club. It was a hotly contested and close final with the lead changing between rounds. The winning club was Chappel, with Sprawson just 2 points behind in second; Boardman and Carder came in joint third, only 7 points behind them. Congratulations go to Chappel, a huge well done goes to all the finalists and a big thank you goes to the Form VI scholarship group who devised all the questions, made the power point and interactive slides and presented a superb Club Maths final!
