Four children from Beachborough went to the Hamble aquathon in Portsmouth at the weekend. A pool swim then a quick transition outside and then the run was around a grass games field. It was nice and relaxed, about 150 children racing and well marshaled. It was a very competitive event as it is part of the South Central multi sport series so lots of top junior athletes racing, each child hoping to get maximum points towards the championships.
Results were amazing from Beachborough.
- Hannah in her first ever race came second in tristart (8 years) and was hampered by trying to get out of the pool.
- Larissa was under par with illness but missed out on 3rd place by one second, so came 4th in Tristar 1 (9-10 year olds) again finding it hard to pull herself out of the water.
- Henry missed the top spot by 3 seconds and came away with 2nd after the fastest run of the day in Tristar 1.
- Angus kept the second theme going and raced hard to finish up in second place.
It was a great event and we stayed the night before together so everyone had lots of fun. Next event – Shaftesbury Aquathon 16-17th May.
Places are running out for the Beachborough triathlon@stowe as we only have a few spaces left – book up if you want to race! The ice cream van is now booked so you can treat yourself after the race to a Mr. Whippy.
