Beachborough IAPS Swimming

IAPS National Swimming Finalists

Last term Beachborough entered the IAPS Regional Swimming Championships, competing at a round held at Brockhurst Preparatory School just outside Newbury. Other regional qualifying events took part around the country throughout the duration of the Spring Term as well. Race times for all of the events that took place were recorded at each regional event and entered into the IAPS’ database. Last week a list of pupils who have made it through to the IAPS Nationals from the Regional qualifying events was published and I am delighted to report that both Emma and Tabitha were included on that list. Emma recorded a time of 17.47 seconds for the U12 Girls 25m butterfly at the Regionals whilst Tabitha’s time of 35.87 seconds in the U13 Girls 50m breaststroke has also guaranteed her a place at the Nationals for the second consecutive year. The IAPS Nationals will take place on Saturday 9th May at the K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley, West Sussex. Both girls deserve huge congratulations on securing a place at the national competition in their respective strokes. They will be up against the best swimmers in the country that attend fellow IAPS schools and we wish them well for that event in 3 weeks time. Report by Mark Usher
