U11 Netball IAPS squad:
Eleanor (captain), Lauren, Clara, Gemma, Jemma, Issy D. Sophia, Emma, Florence and Matilda P.
A good journey to High Wycombe, a parking space found for the minibus (not an easy task), a beautiful sunny day and a team of very keen U11 netballers was the perfect start to a very exciting day. We couldn’t believe how busy the netball centre was; hundreds of girls playing netball all at the same time was quite a sight. The girls had 8 matches to play in a section where we didn’t recognise any of the names of the other schools. We managed to keep the score close during our first match, just losing by one goal. During the second match, we were now playing confidently and we won 5-0. Unfortunately our third match was a close loss, but we picked up again and won our fourth match. We were now half way through the tournament and we had created a pattern that was to continue for the rest of the afternoon – win a match then lose a match, win a match then lose a match!
Throughout the tournament the U11 IAPS netball squad all played brilliantly. To see how 500 girls are organised to play over 180 matches was a real learning experience for our
Beachborough netballers. Congratulations to the whole team, especially Eleanor who showed that she has the skill and ability to be such a versatile player, playing effectively as GA, C or GD. We didn’t manage to qualify to the next round this year, but the girls are all keen to try hard again next year. Thank you very much to Mrs Rodas for her support and top netball coaching tips throughout the day and Miss Scott who umpired for Beachborough throughout the tournament.
