Beachborough Skiing Silver Medal

Silver medal for Zachery

Congratulations to Zachary who competed on behalf of Beachborough in the Equity British Interschools Races at Les Houches, France earlier this week, bringing home a silver medal in the Slalom discipline. The Equity British Interschools Race, encompasses Alpine Racers between ages 8 and 21 in full time education, and attracts entrants from over 50 UK and European Schools. In preparation for the event, Zac spent the first two days training for both the Giant Slalom and Slalom events with his ski coaches from Gravity Snowsports. The conditions were slushy and quite different to crisp snow experienced weekly at the SnoZone. At Monday’s Giant Slalom race, Zac finished a creditable 16th out of 65 racers, with the podium places dominated by the Swiss and French school based racers.

Tuesday was a different story with Zac finishing 2nd in the Slalom competition, his favourite discipline. It was a nail biting race with Zac sitting in 3rd position after his first run, just 0.37 sec off the winning pace. His coach, Victoria, suggested a renewed approach on a number of the gates for run 2, which paid off and improved his time by 0.25 sec and winning him the silver medal.
