Beachborough Dogs for deaf

Special visit from Sooty

On Tuesday the Boardman assembly had a special visitor. Carole and Sooty came from the Hearing Dogs for the Deaf to tell us all about the work Sooty does for deaf people. Sooty is a black Cocker Spaniel who loved meeting all the children. Carole told us about the lessons Sooty has, learning how to help around the house, being someone’s ‘ears’ for them. Carole was really pleased to hear that we had learnt some sign language for ‘sign to sing’ and when we sang Happy Birthday this week, we all managed to sign it as well. We really enjoyed meeting both Carole and Sooty and we’re thrilled to hear that Sooty’s visit to us also helped him. A great experience all round! Report by Sophie Banks
