Beachborough Concert Thurman

Concert for Mrs Thurman’s Pupils

A very enjoyable evening was spent on Tuesday listening to Mrs Thurman’s singing pupils performing for us. Twenty six children entertained parents, grandparents and staff, singing a wide variety of songs ranging from  ‘There was an Old Witch’ sung by Isabella Brook, one of the youngest pupils, to Grade 4 & 5 ABRSM exam repertoire sung by the older pupils. It was wonderful to hear such pure voices and to witness the progression through the age groups. We heard songs from the musicals, renditions of pop songs as well as more technically difficult vocal repertoire. For many children, this was the first time they had sung a solo in front of an audience, a daunting experience indeed, but they overcame nerves and inhibitions to give confident performances. They should all feel very proud of themselves, as indeed I am. My first informal concert as Director of Music at Beachborough was a real pleasure. It was lovely to see so many parents and I look forward to meeting many more at the forthcoming concerts in the next few weeks. My thanks go to Mrs Thurman, to Mr Stuart Davies for accompanying and of course to the children. Well done! Report by Judith Dunkley
