Following on from last year’s signing and singing successes, Beachborough will again be participating in sign2sing. Deafness and language impairments isolate children and that affects their health and well-being in later life. The organisers of sign2sing hope to bring deaf and hearing children together through sign language and to inspire future generations of doctors, nurses, lawyers, teachers, healthcare workers and others, to learn sign language. This year’s event will take place on Wednesday 4th February, when all Beachborough pupils and staff will come together to sign and sing this year’s song, Joining Hands Together.Pupils will have opportunities to learn the song and practise the signs in music lessons over the coming weeks, and many are keen to practise in their own time. Tutorial videos can be found on the sign2sing website at http://www.sign2sing.org.uk/joining-hands-today/
The sign2sing event provides an opportunity for us to raise awareness of sign language and for pupils to learn a new skill. This will not be a fundraising event.
