Beachborough Reading Cup

Christopher Hobson, Governor and former pupil joined out assembly to re-launch the Beachborough Reading Cup. He talked with great fondness of his connection to Beachborough and we discovered amongst other things that he was the person who invented the Beachborough Challenge. He set all pupils in Forms III to VI the challenge of reading a piece of selected prose to a panel of judges and ultimately the best two readers to the whole Board of Governors. The eventual winner will receive a trophy and a kindle. Mr Hobson reminded us of some of the great public speakers such as Winston Churchill who spoke with clear articulation, clarity, projection of voice and timing. Mr Hobson confirmed that all of those qualities will hold the listeners attention and so are needed if you wanted the chance to win the Reading Cup. There is still time to enter, all you need to do is get the appropriate piece of prose from Mr Gross and rehearse it ready for the first round beginning the week of 6th November. Report by Dan Gross
